Gratitudes

*for the greatest outdoor run EVER!  I ran 7 km yesterday in 41:39 min – that is 5.94 min/km!  When I ran the Underwear Affair in 2007, my pace was 5.99 min/km for 10k.  I out-ran my best pace pushing a jogging stroller with TWO CHILDREN in it, and about a quarter of my run was on packed snow/sheer ice.  I rock.

*for the chance to FINALLY take all the preemie clothes into the RAH NICU, and for how good it felt to know that we were bringing just a little bit of happiness to all of those families
*for all our wonderful friends and family who helped us reach our goals.  Thank you so much!!

*for my new job, and the opportunity it will afford us.
*for the friends (and family) who have been willing to help me out with my job training!!  Thank you!!
*for my mad cooking skillz!  I made dinner on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday night, and every night it was GOOD.  I hate cooking, keep in mind, and on Friday I made baked salmon with homemade lemon dill sauce, roasted asparagus, Caesar salad and garlic bread.  And apple pie (which I bought, not gonna lie…).
*for the last 2 days when the bugz have been moderately cheerful and enjoyable to be around :)
*for getting my tax return filed, and although I am not getting any money back, I also don’t owe any!!
*for getting our budget hammered out.  Wow, what an exciting week it’s been…..
*for the beautiful weather and the hint of spring in the air (fingers crossed!!)
*for Meet the Robinsons.  Best Movie EVER!

We FINALLY took the preemie clothes into the RAH NICU tonight!  I know we said we were taking them in right after the girls’ birthday, but we were wiped out after the party and haven’t had a time when all 4 of us were available to go in…  So tonight, we did!!

Guilt-free Guilt

If you were looking in the mirror this morning and thinking to yourself, “Damn, I’m looking a little skinny … maybe I need to fatten up!”, then you should click HERE.

It’s a recipe for Ariana’s microwave chocolate cake.  Individual-sized.  It takes 2 minutes to mix, 3 minutes to cook, and 2 minutes to cool.  You’re supposed to take it out of the cup to eat it, but I MIGHT have just dumped some ice cream on top and gone to town.
It was light ice cream.
I did not have any eggs, so I put an extra tablespoon each of oil and milk, along with a teaspoon of instant coffee and some finely shredded coconut.  Yum!!

PS, how do you feel about Starbucks offering instant coffee?  It makes me feel dirty and used.  Mind you, twice in the last week I have reheated yesterday’s coffee in the microwave, rather than brewing a fresh pot…

Gratitudes

*for the last year:  Sunday marked the one-year anniversary of bringing our babeez home :)  Such sweetness can’t be described.

*for the progress I am making in my new-job training, and for the motivation I continue to have
*for Leith’s support, with all these late nights!
*for the chance to shoot a wedding reception.  Sneak peek coming soon!
*for finding a cheap (ok, FREE) place to take the bugz to play.
*and many, many more things, but I am honestly very tired and can’t remember everything that went on last week!  But I am grateful just for the chance to spend every day with my bugz, even if I am over-extending myself a little bit right now :)

Prayers…

…for Baby Stellan.  He beat all odds when he was diagnose with heart failure in utero.  For all intents and purposes, this little boy is proof of God’s work.

Right now, he is in the hospital with a heartrate in the very, very high 200′s.  His mama needs your support.

Why I love this picture:

Sometimes it seems like I can see his soul when I look at this photograph.  More-so because I took the picture, and that he was willing enough to stand in front of my camera.  It may not seem like much, but to me it was a huge gesture of faith.
_uacct = “UA-4888259-1″;

Daily, he amazes me.  He supports and loves me unconditionally.  He loves our children fiercely.  He provides for us and keeps us safe.  He cooks and cleans (!!) and is stubbornly proud.
He shows tremendous faith in me.  His encouragement is always the final push for me to do something that I am scared of.  He makes me want to be a better person; I want to be the person he tells me I am.
He is an incredible father to our daughters.  He grabs the chance to take care of them, offering me the opportunity to do the things I love.
He is my husband.

Totally Inappropriate!

Friday humor…ahhhh.  I have been ignoring all required duties today, laughing at the misfortune of others :)

It’s like the Why Me’s from Teen Magazine and YM, but better!
*Not grandmother appropriate, even though I know she’ll click the link.  Also not appropriate for anyone who doesn’t have a twisted sense of humor.  And I’m not going to clarify what “FML” stands for.  You’ll have to Google it ;)

Gratitudes, mildly on time

Friday, Friday

Ugh, I’m tired

Friday Five:
1.  Have you ever worn hand-me-downs?  Who did you get them from?
Many times, from many people.  Some of them were maternity clothes.  Some have been regular clothes, borrowed and never returned…

2.  Have you ever given hand-me-downs?  Who do you give them to?
I go through my closet/dresser every couple years and pare down mercilessly…and then 2 weeks later, I need something I gave away!  I also got rid of ALLLL my maternity clothes by giving them to expectant friends.  I have a huge box of used baby clothes to take to the 2nd hand shop soon.

3.  How do you feel about hand-me-downs in general?  Do you like the idea of recycling things, or does it bother you to have something used?
I think it’s a good idea.  I’d rather get money for them, or give them to a friend but sometimes I’m too lazy and they end up at Goodwill…  If things are new and in good shape, I don’t mind having hand-me-downs, especially for furniture!

4.  Do you ever visit yard/garage/junk/tag sales?
Not really.  Same reason I don’t shop at 2nd hand stores.  If it’s from people I know, I don’t mind, but I don’t like items from strangers.  It skeeves me out.

Plus, garage-salers scare the sh*t out of me!!  They are a breed unto themselves!!
5.  If given $25,000 to buy furniture and decorate your home, would you buy new or antique?  Why?
New, new, new!!  Why buy old, unless it matches the style of your home??  I want a new kitchen table and new living room set!  And a 40″ LCD TV (okay, Leith wants that, so I thought I’d give him a shout-out!)

Happy Friday :)  I’ll be busy with 2 photo shoots this weekend!!
